Who we are

Gradient Maths is an online maths tutoring service run by Adam Saad, trading as Gradient Maths ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we collect and why

We collect personal data only where we need it to provide or improve the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies.

Children's data

We tutor students from age 7 upwards. Where a student is under 13, we require a parent or guardian to create the account and give consent on the child's behalf. Where a student is under 16, the account must be created and managed by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has registered without parental consent, please contact us and we will remove the account promptly.

How we share your data

We share personal data only with the following service providers, who process it on our behalf under written agreements and solely for the purposes stated.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a portable copy of your personal data; to object to processing based on legitimate interests; and to withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Security

We take security seriously. Passwords are hashed and unreadable to us. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database access is restricted by row-level security policies. Card numbers are handled entirely by Stripe and never pass through our servers. Uploaded study materials are stored in private, access-controlled storage. If we become aware of a breach likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the ICO without undue delay.

Cookies and session storage

Our website uses a session token to keep you signed in during your visit. This is strictly necessary and does not require your consent under PECR. We do not set advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking cookies.

Children's data — additional safeguards

We do not use children's data for any marketing purpose. Children's progress records are accessible only to the account holder (parent or guardian) and the assigned tutor. A parent or guardian may request deletion of all data relating to a child at any time by contacting us.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top of this page when changes are made. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before they take effect.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Gradient Maths website and tutoring services at gradientmaths.co.uk. By creating an account or booking a lesson, you agree to these Terms. They are between you (the customer) and Adam Saad, trading as Gradient Maths ("we", "us", "our").

The service

Gradient Maths provides one-to-one and small-group online maths tutoring for students from KS2 to A-level, delivered via video call. Our tutors are Adam Saad and Madeeha Saad, both DBS-checked.

Every new student is offered a free 30-minute trial lesson before any payment is required. No card details are needed for the trial.

Lessons follow Edexcel and AQA curricula as standard. Other specifications may be accommodated at the tutor's discretion — please ask before booking.

Accounts and eligibility

To book a lesson you must create an account and verify your email address.

• Students aged 13 and over may create an account in their own name.
• Students under 13 must have their account created and managed by a parent or guardian, who is responsible for all bookings, payments, and consent.
• For students under 16, a parent or guardian must be present in the home during lessons.

By creating an account on behalf of a child under 13, the parent or guardian confirms they hold parental responsibility for that child and consent to the processing of the child's personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.

Booking and payment

How to book

Lessons are booked through the dashboard on your account. You select a tutor, subject level, date and time, and proceed to payment. Your booking is confirmed once payment has been received and a confirmation email has been sent to you.

Package bookings (multiple lessons purchased in advance) are confirmed on receipt of full payment. Individual session times within a package are scheduled separately through your dashboard.

Pricing

Current prices are shown on our Pricing page. All prices are in pounds sterling. We will give existing customers at least 14 days' notice before a price increase applies to any pre-booked sessions.

Payment processing

All payments are handled securely by Stripe. You enter your card details directly on Stripe's own secure payment page — we never receive, see, or store your card number. By completing payment you also agree to Stripe's terms of service.

Your right to cancel — distance selling

Group sessions

Group sessions run with 2–4 students at the same level. Reserving a place is free with no payment obligation. Payment is only requested once at least 2 students are enrolled and the tutor has set a time.

If a confirmed group session cannot go ahead because it drops below 2 students, all remaining enrolled students receive a full refund for that session and will be notified by email. We will offer a place in a future group or a transfer to one-to-one tuition.

Cancellations and refunds

Lessons that have been delivered are not refundable. Refunds are returned to the original payment method and typically appear within 5–10 working days.

You may also request to reschedule a lesson through your dashboard. Reschedule requests are subject to tutor availability. If no suitable time can be agreed, we will cancel the lesson with a full refund.

What we ask of students

To ensure lessons run well, we ask that students join on time with a working device, camera, microphone, and stable internet connection, in a quiet workspace. Students should treat tutors with courtesy and respect at all times.

We reserve the right to end a lesson immediately, without refund, if a student or associated adult behaves abusively or inappropriately towards a tutor. Repeated misconduct may result in the account being closed.

DBS checks

All Gradient Maths tutors hold a current Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Certificate details are available on request at adamys1906@gmail.com.

No guarantee of results

We are committed to delivering high-quality, structured tuition. However, academic outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including individual effort, attendance, and examination conditions. We make no guarantee of any specific grade improvement or examination result. Examples of past progress on our website are illustrations, not promises.

Study materials and intellectual property

Worksheets and worked examples shared through the platform are created by our tutors and remain the intellectual property of Gradient Maths. They are provided for the personal educational use of the individual student only and may not be copied, redistributed, or resold without our written permission.

Our liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law including rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to the above, our total liability to you shall not exceed the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for technical failures outside our control (such as internet outages or platform downtime), though we will always reschedule lessons lost to them.

Privacy

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By creating an account you confirm that you have read and understood the Privacy Policy.

Complaints

If you have a complaint, please email us at adamys1906@gmail.com. We will acknowledge it within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 working days.

Changes to these Terms

We will give at least 14 days' notice of material changes by email before they take effect. If you do not accept a change, you may close your account and any paid, undelivered lessons will be refunded. Continuing to use the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes that cannot be resolved by agreement are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
